Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of IUS Community at iuscommunity.com (the "Platform"), a non-commercial, student-run platform for students of the International University of Sarajevo ("IUS"). IUS Community is an independent student initiative and is not an official service of IUS unless IUS states otherwise in writing.

By creating an account or using the Platform you agree to these Terms and confirm that you have read the Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal data, including for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and the Law on Personal Data Protection of Bosnia and Herzegovina. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Eligibility and account types

• You must be at least 16 years old.
• Student accounts require a valid @student.ius.edu.ba or @ius.edu.ba email address that you control. Student accounts can read and write professor and course reviews and share notes.
• Guest accounts can be created with other email addresses and have limited access.
• You may hold only one account, may not register on behalf of another person, and must keep your account details accurate.

3. The service

The Platform lets students browse courses and shared notes, review professors and courses, take part in a forum, list items in a marketplace and message each other. The Platform is provided free of charge, by volunteers, on a best-effort basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time, and we do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption or error.

Information on the Platform, including course data, ratings, reviews and notes, is provided by users or compiled for convenience. It is not official university information and must not be relied on as such. Always check official IUS sources for academic decisions.

4. Your account and its security

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity carried out through your account. In particular you agree to:

• use a password that you do not use for any other website or service;
• not share your account or password with anyone;
• log out on shared or public devices;
• notify us immediately at iuscommunity.info@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss or damage resulting from your failure to comply with this section, including the reuse of a password that is compromised elsewhere.

5. Your content

"User Content" means anything you publish or send on the Platform: reviews, ratings, comments, forum posts and replies, note links, listings, photos and messages. You keep ownership of your User Content.

You grant IUS Community a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce and display your User Content for the purpose of operating the Platform. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies that other users have already received in messages and for backups that are overwritten in the normal course.

You are solely responsible for your User Content and for ensuring that you have the right to publish it. IUS Community does not create, endorse or verify User Content, and the views expressed in it are those of its authors, not of IUS Community or IUS.

6. Reviews of professors and courses

Reviews must be honest, based on your own experience, and focused on teaching and courses. You must not:

• state as fact anything you know to be false, or make defamatory, insulting or discriminatory statements;
• disclose personal information about professors or others beyond their professional role (for example private contact details, health or family matters);
• post threats, harassment, or content that incites hatred;
• post multiple reviews of the same professor or course, or reviews in exchange for any benefit.

Anonymous mode hides your name from other users only. Reviews and posts remain linked to your account; administrators can see the author, and we may disclose the author's identity where we are legally required to do so, for example to a court or a competent authority.

7. Prohibited conduct

You must not use the Platform to:

• break any applicable law or IUS regulations, including academic integrity rules (for example sharing exam answers that are not allowed to be shared);
• infringe copyright or other rights, including by sharing material you are not allowed to distribute;
• harass, threaten, bully, impersonate or discriminate against anyone;
• post spam, advertising unrelated to student life, malware or links to harmful sites;
• collect other users' personal data, or use the Platform to contact people who did not agree to it;
• attempt to access accounts, data or systems without authorisation, probe for vulnerabilities, or interfere with the Platform's operation;
• create accounts automatically, manipulate points, ratings or votes, or evade a ban.

If you discover a security vulnerability, report it privately to iuscommunity.info@gmail.com and do not exploit or disclose it.

8. Moderation and enforcement

We are not obliged to monitor User Content, but we may review it. We may, at our discretion and without prior notice, remove or hide content, mark it as sensitive, deduct points, limit features, suspend or ban accounts, or delete accounts where we reasonably believe that these Terms or the law have been broken, or to protect users, third parties or the Platform.

Where appropriate we will tell you the reason for a ban. You may contact us to ask for a review of a moderation decision.

9. Reporting content (notice and takedown)

If you believe that content on the Platform is unlawful, infringes your rights or breaches these Terms, report it using the report function where available or email iuscommunity.info@gmail.com with: the address (URL) of the content, an explanation of why it is unlawful or infringing, and your contact details. Professors and other people mentioned in reviews may use this procedure.

We will review reports within a reasonable time and take appropriate action. Knowingly false reports are a breach of these Terms.

10. Marketplace

The marketplace only lets users publish listings and contact each other. IUS Community is not a party to any transaction, does not handle payments, takes no commission, and does not inspect, guarantee or insure items, their quality, legality or safety, or the identity or reliability of users. All agreements are made directly between buyer and seller, who are solely responsible for them.

• Only list items you own and may lawfully sell. Weapons, drugs, alcohol and tobacco, stolen or counterfeit goods, and any illegal items are prohibited.
• Meet in safe, public places (for example on campus), inspect items before paying, and do not send money in advance to people you do not know.
• Listing photos are hosted by a third party at a public web address; do not include people or personal information in them.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, injury or dispute arising from marketplace listings or transactions.

11. Messages and contact details

Direct messages are private between their participants, except that administrators can see messages that are reported to them. Your phone number is shared with another user only if you accept their contact request. Once you share contact details or other information with another user, we cannot control how that user uses it, and you share it at your own risk.

12. Notes, external links and intellectual property

Shared notes are links to content hosted elsewhere (for example Google Drive). We do not host, review or control that content and are not responsible for it or for the availability, safety or privacy practices of external sites.

Only share material that you created or are allowed to share. Do not share copyrighted textbooks, paid course materials, or exam material that the course does not permit to be shared. Rights holders can request removal under Section 9.

The Platform's own design, name and code belong to IUS Community. You may not copy or reuse them without permission.

13. Points and badges

Points and badges reward participation. They have no monetary value, cannot be transferred or exchanged, and may be adjusted or removed, for example when content is deleted or when points were gained in breach of these Terms.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the Platform and all content on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement or security. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that data will never be lost.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

1. IUS Community and its administrators and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, reputation or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with the Platform.
2. We are not liable for User Content, for the conduct of users, for transactions between users, or for external sites and content linked from the Platform.
3. We are not liable for loss or damage caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including failures, outages or security incidents of third-party providers and infrastructure, attacks by third parties despite the measures we take, or force majeure.
4. We are not liable for loss or damage resulting from your failure to keep your credentials secure, including password reuse, or from unauthorised access to your account through your device or email account.
5. Because the Platform is free, our total aggregate liability for any claims arising out of or in connection with the Platform is limited to BAM 50 (fifty convertible marks).

16. Your responsibility towards us

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless IUS Community and its administrators and volunteers from claims, damages, losses and reasonable costs (including legal fees) brought by third parties that arise from your User Content, your use of the Platform in breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of others.

17. Ending the agreement

You can stop using the Platform at any time and delete your account from your Profile page, which deletes the content linked to it as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access under Section 8. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 5, 14, 15, 16 and 19) continue to apply.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. We will show the new effective date above and, for material changes, notify you on the Platform and ask you to accept the updated Terms before you continue using your account. If you do not accept them, you may delete your account.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the matter informally. Subject to any mandatory rules that give you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere, the competent courts in Sarajevo have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms.

20. General provisions

• If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
• Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
• These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and IUS Community regarding the Platform.
• These Terms are written in English. If they are translated, the English version prevails.
